To lift up and level up, we must work with the assumptions and obstacles that limit our power for change and our leadership through change. As Bob Proctor said, either you are increasing or decreasing. The choice of direction is yours.
I suggest going UPward in a 3 x 3 way.
Three “how” questions form the framework for your strategy and action plan. How are you identifying and using the potential for change and growth? How are you taking responsibility for finding potential in people and processes? How are you expressing the courage to develop it?
Three clarity guidelines keep it practical. Get clear on why you want to make or be part of a change, and know your why not. Find idea partners to co-create with, and equip yourself and your tribe to sustain the journey. Keep it simple to act, engage and improve, and be clear on where and how you will use your power for change.
Three roles can serve the process of change.
- The “Game-Changer” questions and disrupts established thoughts, beliefs and behaviours, using imagination, creativity and action.
- The “Catalyst for Change” asks questions that challenge the status quo, offers new perspectives and creates conversations that break old patterns, which takes the courage to step into the unknown.
- The “Change Leader” (Johnson’s “Wave Maker”, Maxwell’s “Agent of Change”) starts and leads change, takes responsibility for decisions, and always looks for ways to improve the team, the initiative and the process itself.
